The evidence difference

RealHorse has the stronger published case for gait analysis

A 2026 peer-reviewed study compared RealHorse with 3D multicamera optical motion capture. It reported trial-level mean absolute errors of 1.1–1.4 mm on a straight line and 1.8–3.3 mm on circles.

Important context: Keydiagnostics funded the research as internal validation, and three authors were affiliated with the company. The paper discloses both points; they should be considered when weighing the findings.

Our assessment

Choose around the job you need done

Choose Equine360

If you want one affordable system for everyday horse ownership or running a yard.

Choose RealHorse

If repeatable gait and asymmetry monitoring, rehabilitation tracking or objective data for your vet is the priority.

Use both

Equine360 can hold the management record while RealHorse provides the specialist gait-analysis workflow.

Technology supports care; it does not replace it

Neither product should replace a veterinary examination when a horse is lame or its movement changes materially. Use app data to improve the record and the conversation with your vet—not as a diagnosis.
